How to Play Would You Rather Over Text
- One player kicks things off by texting a "Would you rather" question with exactly two options. The weirder the better.
- The other player picks one of the two options. No dodging, no "neither" — you have to commit.
- After picking, explain your reasoning. This is where the real fun happens because the debates get wild.
- Then it's the other player's turn to ask. Keep alternating until you run out of ideas (you won't).
Rules
- You must pick one of the two options. "Both" and "neither" are not valid answers.
- Both options should be roughly equal in difficulty or appeal. Don't make one obviously better.
- You have to explain your choice. A one-word answer doesn't count.
- No repeating questions that have already been asked in the same session.
- Keep it fun and respectful. Read the room and match the vibe of whoever you're playing with.
Example Conversation
You
would you rather be able to fly but only 2 feet off the ground, or be invisible but only when nobody is looking
Them
fly 2 feet off the ground easily. I'd just hover everywhere looking majestic
You
majestic?? you'd look like a glitchy video game character 😂
Them
ok my turn. would you rather have to sing everything you say or dance every time you walk
You
dance while walking for sure. I'd just look like I'm vibing 24/7
Them
imagine you in a job interview just grooving to your chair 💀
You
hired on the spot for positive energy
Them
lmaooo ok ok your turn
Tips & Variations
- Mix up the tone: alternate between silly questions, deep philosophical ones, and mildly gross scenarios to keep things unpredictable.
- Play the "speed round" version where both players have 30 seconds to answer. No overthinking allowed.
- Try "Would You Rather: This or That Edition" where you compare two real things (pizza vs. tacos, beach vs. mountains).
- In a group chat, have everyone vote on the same question and see who's in the majority. Minority has to explain themselves.
